Winter Events in Los Angeles

LA Zoo Lights

During the winter months, the Los Angeles Zoo turns into an illuminated wonderland. Visit the city’s zoo for an unforgettable night featuring giant illuminated snowflakes, a twinkling tunnel, a herd of animated elephants, projections, festive music, animal-themed displays, and lights hanging from all the trees. You can also see and learn about real reindeer and on certain nights Santa will make an appearance. The zoo lights are on display from November 16 – January 6 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Adult ticket prices range from $12 – $21.95 and children tickets range from $12 – $16.95. Children 2 years and younger are free.

Smorgasburg LA

Smorgasburg LA is a Sunday market in the fashion district of Los Angeles. While the market is open year-round, it turns into a holiday market from October 14 – December 23. Located on a 5-acre site in the heart of downtown, the market features everything from food to fashion with more than 90 food and shopping vendors and a beer garden. Smorgasburg LA is a great way to explore Los Angeles unique food and arts scene. It is also a great spot to pick up some presents for your holiday shopping. Smorgasburg LA is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Other Winter Events in Los Angeles

Snow Day LA is a snowpark located just five minutes outside of downtown Los Angeles. The nine-acre synthetic snow park features tube runs, an ice-skating rink, a life-sized gingerbread house, a snowglobe you can stand inside, and plenty of light displays. They also serve hot cocoa if you are feeling cold.

Snow Day LA is located at the Old Lodge in Elysian Park next to Dodger Stadium. Tickets start at $12 per person. You can also purchase VIP tickets which include access to the bar, a glittery blizzard beer, and a penguin- or narwhal-themed onesie that you get to take home with you. The park is open during the months of November and December and tickets can be purchased online.
