Admission is free and open to the public. While alcohol isn’t allowed in the street, the bars nearby will host parties and drink specials right alongside the incredible event, which even has live music and food trucks.

Santa Monica Zombie Crawl

A pub crawl with a Halloween twist: participants have to dress and act like zombies, right down to their walk and their talk—or rather, grunts and growls! Bars throughout the Santa Monica area will be participating, offering $4.00 drafts and $5.00 well drinks and shots. Tickets are $12.00 if purchased in advance or $15.00 on the day-of, on October 28th.

Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios experiences an outbreak of monsters each Halloween, with the iconic theme park transforming into a series of mazes, scare zones, and the Terror Tram. Our LA Festival Guide

In a city as big as Los Angeles, there are festivals every month! However, some stand out above the others. If you’re looking for the best Los Angeles festivals, check out these major events, which bring in people from across the state and beyond:

Los Angeles Film Festival

Each June, over 20,000 people come out to see the newest and greatest in cinematographic art. So much more than a series of screenings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the LA Film Fest. Fiction and documentaries both abound here, as do shorter films and episodic stories. It’s also a qualifying ground for short films which hope to make it to the Academy Awards. The festival is more than indie groups, too—some hugely popular films such as Brave made their world premiere at this festival! With over 100 films being shown, you’re sure to find something you love.

FYF Fest

Sometimes overshadowed by other music festivals, FYF Fest is still a rocking party that music-lovers should put on their calendars! It usually lands somewhere in late August or in September, and past line-ups have included such names as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kanye West, and Tame Impala. It’s a three-day party, and anyone who loves rock, hip-hop, and EDM is invited!

LA Beer Festival

Falling on September 30th this year, the Los Angeles Beer Festival is exactly what it sounds like: a chance to celebrate and drink beer! Admission gets you unlimited samples from over eighty breweries, plus plenty of live music for your pleasure. There’ll be plenty of food trucks to help you chase down the alcohol too! These beers come from all over, from across LA’s distinguished microbrewery scene and from overseas, so if you’re looking for a new favorite, this is your festival to attend!

American Film Institute Fest

As you’d expect from Hollywood’s biggest neighbor, there are plenty of fabulous film festivals in the area! The AFI fest comes around each November; it’s full of red-carpet parties and special screenings that show off the best in current international cinema. Like the LA Film Festival, it’s also a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards. Plus, many films screened here have received Oscars. If you’re looking for the best in film-making, then, look for AFI fest!
