Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles

Vacations are a time to forget your cares and worries as you explore a world outside your boundaries, and sometimes it’s possible to learn something new and exciting as you expand your horizons. The Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles is just the place to help you do that during your stay in sunny California. Skirball offers a unique perspective on yesteryear, today, and tomorrow. Established for maintaining Jewish heritage, you don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy a visit here; you just have to be human.

Located at 2701 N Sepulveda Blvd

The Skirball Cultural Center is open every day of the week, except Mondays, starting at noon during the week and 10AM during the weekends and closing at 5PM. Featuring a large variety of exhibitions that change regularly, it’s impossible to find yourself disliking what they have to show! Current exhibitions include one of our favorites, The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited. In our humble opinion, Mr. Henson died far too soon, but his legacy lives on in his work. The exhibit features the original Kermit perched behind glass, scripts from his many television shows and movies, and the opportunity to be a puppeteer in an interactive display designed to make the most of your own imagination.

Other exhibitions include a Leonard Bernstein retrospective, a biopic on Notorious RBG, and a real Noah’s Ark for your kids to explore and play in (The animals are fake, so you need not fear a bite from an unruly zebra or wolf!). In addition to the exhibitions, Skirball offers family programs that include toddler sing-alongs, a family art studio, and story time at Noah’s Ark.

You can also enjoy public tours of the main Skirball exhibition, Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America, nighttime concerts, puppet shows, and even a performance by the Santa Monica Youth Orchestra on occasion. Admission costs range from $7 to $12 dollars, with some admission fees costing nothing. Details on ticketing and parking can be found at
